The Lulworth Estate spans 20 square miles of coastal downland, lowland heath, woodland and open farmland. Whether you want a leisurely stroll for an hour around the Estate or a fossil hunt on the beach, our instructors are happy to discuss and organise walks to meet your requirements. Our expedition leaders are highly experienced hill walkers and with organised camping options available we can also arrange overnight hikes to cater for clients yearning for an extended walk.
Butterfly and Wildlife Walk
Join in on a selection of guided walks hosted by Butterfly Conservation. Although the main focus is on Butterfly species, there is also a host of other flora and fauna to see and learn about whilst exploring our fantastic chalk grasslands sites. Run on different days of the summer, each walk should produce a variety of species from Lulworth Skippers through to Marbled Whites, Adonis Blues and many more. Suitable for anyone with an interest in wildlife but a certain level of fitness is required to access the steep slopes. Prices: £5 Adult / £2.50 Child
Bat and Nightjar Walk
Every summer we run a couple of late evening walks which focus on creatures of the night, specifically bats and nightjars The walk includes listening out for the Nightjar’s unmistakable ‘churring’ as well as spotting some speedy resident bats. Using our bat detectors also allow you to hear their fascinating echolocation. Walks require sturdy footwear, weather appropriate clothing. Suitable for ages 12+ No dogs Prices: £10 Adult / £5 Child
Join the Rangers on a guided fossil walk to discover creatures from the Jurassic and Cretaceous time periods that lived in this unique location. Our expert tuition will help you discover a number of hidden treasures from the past, as well as in insight to the geology that makes the area so special.
